A Study of Activities f Daily Living and Education in patients with Total Hip Replacement after Discharge



Abstract
total hip replacement is one orthoedic procedure currently being used for hip arthorplasty. Dislocation and relaxation in total hip replacement are post operative complication which occure more frequently in the Korean life style setting than in
the
west.
This study is a survey to provide basic data for the post discharge rehabilitation education of patients with total hip replacement by researching their activities of daliy living after discharge. The subjects were forty patints living in Pusan,
Korea,
who had been performed total hip replacement surgery from June 1, 1992 to May 30, 1993 at an University Hospital, Data were evaluated by questionaires concerning subjects' activities of dail living after discharge. Questionaire used in this study
was
modifided bases on activities of daily living by Jin Woo Chung and Harris'Hip function Scale, Activities of daily living in washing face, bathing toileting and dressing were evaluated. The data were analysed by an SPSS/PC computer program for
percentage.
As a result of this survey, In recovery process of artifical hip joint with normla joint movement rang and function of weight load it happened to complication such as dislocation and relaxation. It needs education and consult about using bath
room
in
3-6 months and moving in 7-12 month. I concluded that educating the total hip replacement surgery patients with inappropriate dwelling environment before dischage after will be very useful in concretely and systematically education program
development
without complication such as dislocation, relaxation, wear and tear.
